The Dress

My inspiration for my wedding day was Carolyn Bessette wore for her wedding. I wanted it to be chic, simple and beautiful. The only designer who I felt was doing this well was Danielle Frankel. I looked up her studio and she has two locations that carry her designs: her atelier in NYC and Los Angeles.

In Feb. 2022, I flew to LOHO Bride in Los Angeles. I was originally thinking one of her other styles, but the Simone was the first dress I tried on. And that was it for me. It is absolutely stunning. Classic, yet breathtaking. I loved the backless aspect and the long sleeves made it feel really special. It felt modern in just the right way.

We got married at our best friend's parents' home in Oregon - a glass house in the middle of wine country in front of our 53 closest friends and family.

While I would love to keep the dress just to have, I don't love the idea of it just sitting in the closet. I hope that by upcycling for another bride, they will also feel the same kind of joy I did when walking down the aisle.

Condition: Very good. There is some minor wear (pictured) on the interior of dress. The dress has been professionally dry-cleaned. I will also include the original duster bag.

Sizing: I am a typical size 4, but LOHO recommended I size up, which I did. It gave me enough room in the shoulder to bust. Sizing up to the 6 allowed the darts to fall properly in the right spot.

Alterations

My professional tailor added the following:

1) Four ribbons for the dress to be bustled. They are not visible when the dress is on.
2) I brought up the front slightly, so I wasn't stepping on my dress. With heels, it was perfect. From top to bottom, it measures 55." If you are taller than 5'4 with heels, it will probably be too short.
3) The arms were shortened slightly as they were extra long. I wanted them to hit mid-palm. The sleeve length is now 24.5" (pictured so you can see where I measured from).
