The Dress

I have been in love with Jenny Packham’s Willow for a decade, and was so excited to find one I could afford in my size for my upcoming wedding. It is breathtakingly beautiful in person, and the craftsmanship and quality of fabric and beading is exquisite. The color falls between an ivory and champagne, and there is delicate beaded (whited, metallic, ivory, crystals and rhinestones) tulle over the silkiest of charmeuse. There are ribbons sewn inside to create a bustle.

Unfortunately, I purchased this dress from another bride, with the information that it is a size 2-4. It’s is actually more of a 6-8, with a generous amount of fabric left in the seams if a larger size is required. I believe with the extra fabric, this dress could be let out to fit a size 8-10. The measurements listed are the current altered measurements for this gown, as I am unsure what the original size was.

As much as I adore this gown, I would rather find it in a size that already fits me, than try to take it down 2-3 sizes. The dress is in need of a few minor repairs, which I list below and show in pictures, and will happily discuss in more detail. It also needs to be dry cleaned, although aside from the tiny one shown by the hem in the photo, I see nothing I would classify as a stain.

Repairs needed:

-there are a few parts in the tulle by the back waistline that need repair. This is a very easy fix (one that I was actually going to do myself), but any bridal seamstress can do it for you. Those are the only issues with tulle I can see.

-the center rhinestone flower motif is missing a few flowers. My intention was to just borrow from a few other places to clean up the design and make it look more symmetrical. I believe several of the flowers should be reinforced as well, before wearing.

- there are some loose threads that need to be clipped, but aside from the flowers as already stated, I see no missing beads.

I do not have the original dust bag as it was not given to me, but I have one I can send it in. The original Jenny Packham label may be hidden in the seams, as I do not see it, but her name is on the care label inside the skirt. It is an authentic gown.
As someone who has knowledge of sewing and construction, I believe this dress is really worth the small amount of work involved, and I have set my price to offset the needed repairs and dry cleaning.

I’m open to meeting in person and letting you try on, if you live in the Los Angeles area. Just shoot me a DM!

Alterations

This dress has been taken in from the bust to the hips. The fabric is still in the seam, so it can easily be let out to accommodate larger measurements. As far as I can tell, the hem has not been altered.
