The Dress

Elegant, romantic and glamorous custom designer floor-length A-Line wedding dress with an illusion neckline and beautiful beaded lace details from Bridal Gown Studio designer Sonthai Gi.

About the dress: A-Line lace and tulle ballgown-length dress with a short train.

The bodice has intricate beaded French lace detail over the fitted bodice, with off-the-shoulder lace set on illusion netting. The back is sheer illusion netting with scalloped lace along the sides, with delicate crystal bead buttons down the center of the back. The bodice structure stretches with you as you move, so that it fits like a glove and looks form-fitting and elegant from every angle. The lace from the bodice gently waterfalls over the skirt to create beautiful continuity and an elongated line.

The floor-length ball gown is incredibly elegant and romantic. The skirt has five separate layers of high-end imported fabric. It has a very light underlayer of white fabric with a slightly-structured hemline so the dress hangs perfectly. There are four separate sheer layers of tulle fabric that are so light that they make it appear as if you are floating as you walk. There is a hidden (American-style) bustle to enable you to easily raise the train to make the skirt floor length if you’d like (for dancing etc.).

Sizing: I am usually a U.S. size 8 or 10 (a medium) (37” chest, 32” waist, 38” hips) and this dress fit me perfectly without need for any alteration in the bodice. I am 5’9” tall and the dress was altered for me to wear with flats.

The dress is very light and stretchy and was surprisingly comfortable and easy to wear. Because the off-the-shoulder lace is attached to the illusion netting, everything stays in place perfectly. Given how stretchy the netting and lace in the bodice is, I think the dress would be able to fit someone a couple inches smaller or larger in the chest or waist, perhaps without the need for alterations.

About the designer: Sonthai Gi is an incredibly talented dress designer. He has design studios in Northern California and Miami Florida. Prior to opening his own design studio he designed for film costume makers in Hollywood and several eveningwear and bridal gown design studios, including Vera Wang.
