The Dress

This dress is kind of magical. I was fortunate enough to get married outside on a beautiful sunny day. The way the glittered tulle comes to life when the light hits is almost indescribable......it's etherial. I wish I'd done more twirls in the sunlight.

The dress is layered tulle, each layer with a different sparkle to it. The top a glittered flower design and the under layer sequins, the lining underneath is nude. The layers give the skirt depth and movement, and the train adds drama. It's beautiful and clever.

The bodice design is cut in a way to make your waist look small. It's boned with sheer panelling. The cups are lined in nude, but not padded. You can always have half cups added if you'd like more structure. The straps are skinny, around 1cm, and embellished with Swarovski Crystals which pick up the light and really sparkle. There is extra fabric in the seam to have the bodice taken out and the straps lengthened if necessary. It's also worth noting that the dress is easy to get on and off. The fastening is not over complicated and didn't require much time to put on. The way the dress is cut also means you can move, and eat! Important things on a busy wedding day.

This dress is a unique combination of three Helena Kolan dresses, which I liked because it means there are no others like it. The bodice from one, the straps from another, and the overall fabric and skirt from one more.

I felt amazing in this dress...sexy and sophisticated. It was well and truly worthy of my french chateau wedding. But I think it would be beautiful for a winter wedding too. The glitter gives off a real fairy tale vibe and would reflect winter lights and tones perfectly.

Alterations

Hem to my height.
slightly shortened bodice to make it more comfortable to sit down. Dresses often come bodices that are long and can dig in at the hip when sitting. Shortening was recommended but the alterations service and I was very comfortable seated in the dress.
Straps and bodice width can be altered to fit as there is fabric left in the seam for this purpose.
