The Dress

This dress was beautiful and so comfortable to wear. As a full figured woman I had a really difficult time finding a dress that I felt good in and I was so fortunate to come across this design. Our theme was vintage and we leaned towards a style from the late 40’s-early 50’s. Luckily this was the year that Alfred Angelo celebrated their 75th Anniversary and they created several designs that year that were throw backs to some of their original designs. This one is a beautiful off-white with Champagne accents at the bust and at the bottom trim. There is some lovely embellishment, but nothing too overstated. The back is beautiful as well and I loved the tuck that they created to lift the bit of train that it has.
Originaly the bust was straight, but I wanted just a hint of a sweetheart, which I did with a vintage broach that I found and sewed into place. It comes with a beautiful embroidery and jeweled lace crop jacket that was perfect to cover my upper arm area.
The look is truly a classic and it makes me smile every time I see it.
I had it preserved right away and even includes the veil I used (which had matching lace details).
I’ve held onto it, but I honestly have no one to pass it down to, and it’s so gorgeous that I hope it can bring as much joy to someone else as it did to me.

Alterations

The sweetheart neck was created with the vintage broach that is sewn into it. Minor alterations were made on the dress and jacket for fit, but there is plenty of room for alterations either way.
