The Dress

The iconic Long Cocotte is a gown with great historical influence. The corset and neckline are inspired by fashionable high society women of the 18th century and the fabric, which sweeps across the shoulders, drapes, and falls from the hip, is reminiscent of ancient Greek statues.

Ordered from the 2022 Made-To-Order collection in heavy silk satin, this dress was worn for my wedding in Praiano, Italy in September 2022. The dress was purchased from Vivienne Westwood's New York City store.

The dress was worn for 8 hours, and shows very slight wear. There is a small pull in the back (photographed), but otherwise the dress reads new. The dress was expertly dry cleaned at Jeeves New York.

I am a true UK 10/US 6. This dress was ordered in a UK 8/US 4, and fit me off the rack. There is a high amount of stretch in the corseted bodice, but getting the dress on is not for the faint of heart. As my sales associate at Vivienne Westwood told me, "zipping up the dress should be a beautiful struggle".

I was 14 weeks pregnant at the wedding, so made the last minute decision to let the dress out 1" in the waist for comfort. The alteration was made by Vivienne Westwood's preferred tailor in New York City.
