The Dress

*Dress is altered from consignment but I haven't altered it since, I found another dress* This was the first dress I bought but it isn't THE ONE. When I first bought it the 3D floral appliques stole my heart. It made me feel happy to see an aspect of nature on the dress because I love the outdoors. I felt it was unique because you don't find a lot of dresses with 3D appliques - most are just plain 2D. The dress being unique was a huge selling point. However I still wanted to add more sparkle, change the neckline back to a boatneck and add a different colour underlay (the dress has an ivory underlay) much like the 'rum' colour you see with Essence of Australia dresses. A couple months went by and I put it on at home a couple times and felt so much anxiety to find the perfect fabric colour so as to save costs (ordering the fabric from the designer was 400-500 and I tried fabric swatches online with no luck) not to mention adding sparkle. It felt like I was trying to convince myself to like it. It was causing so much anxiety I had to look again and found THE PERFECT DRESS. She is a beautiful dress, just not for me anymore.

Flaws: 2 rips in the tulle - I took pictures of the front and back areas but the video should show you better. They can both be easily covered with a couple stitches and with your alterations the spare appliques can be put on top if the stitching is visible. The ivory slip underneath came undone at the side at the seam (the dress is a side zipper but the slip doesn't have a side zip). It just needs to be sewn together; about 10 cm long and easy fix - I can send you photos of that as its only limited to 8 photos here.

Alterations

Dress was made into a V-neck. You can look up the dress 'Fransesca by Zarucci' on the designer website (she's from Ottawa, Ontario) and see it was originally a sheer boat-neck.
