The Dress

Okay so this dress is A DRESS. Easily the most incredible dress I’ve ever worn. The illusion neckline collar holds everything in place while still showing it off. It’s classy meets showy. The geometric design is flattering. It hugs your waist and is so incredibly flattering on. I’m 5’8 and 145 at the time of the photos. The girls are a small D, large C. The dress has built in cups and boning along the front and sides to hold everything in place. I have really broad shoulders and the dress flatters them. I seriously can’t rave about this dress enough. It shimmers just a little. It fit in perfectly for my venue (the capital hotel in Little Rock) where I was going for a classy-meets-vintage vibe.

Besides fittings it was worn once inside only. Professionally cleaned. Paid $1600 for it from a sample sale. Read alteration notes carefully.

Alterations

So the trick with this dress is it needs to lay flat on your back or it will look ripply. A good alterations lady can make this happen. It was taken in at the straps and the neck (it does need to be the perfect amount of snug (it wasn’t too tight) to hold it in place to keep it flat. I didn’t have to use tape).

It was taken in at the hips and waist. I took a Wedding dress size ten to a street size 4-6 (generous 4, easy 6) but I have -hips- and this dress shows them off.

The train was reduced SIGNIFICANTLY. Look up this dress on Google. It’s got an absurd train. I wanted to be able to move around and visit with my guests during cocktail hour and after dinner without thinking again about what I was wearing so we altered it to almost a court train. I’d call it between court and chapel length. You can see how beautifully it trails and pools in the photos but you can still move.

Unless you’re my twin you’ll need to plan on alterations. Like I said, to get the back to lay flat you’ll need the waist and the straps to be custom to your body but it is so worth it. I priced it to reflect the fact that you’ll need to get it altered.
