The Dress

I wore this stunning and dramatic floral printed Monique Lhuillier “Bloom” gown for my botanical garden wedding ceremony (and part of my reception) this summer. It was a huge hit and SO comfortable! I really didn’t want to take it off.

The fabric (called “open weave gazar”) is super light and airy. Even though our wedding day was during a July heatwave, I wasn’t too hot! See the video of me running through the garden. ;)

The gown has a corset built into the bodice and I had nude cups put in. There are several layers of tulle underneath. There is a nude slip built in. The dress has a zipper and hook on the back.

My very talented dressmaker put in a ballroom bustle. Please see photo #4. I have a video of how to bustle the dress that I will happily send the purchaser.

The gown held up extremely well, but of course had some normal wear.

Here are my notes:
-The very bottom of the train has some (barely visible) “dust” marks.

- The top layer of fabric/ruffles on the bodice are tacked into position. I think one part of a ruffle came untacked (one thread), but would be easily repaired. Repair might not even be necessary since the same ruffle is tacked in other places and doesn’t “appear” to fall out of place.

- One if the bustle’s buttons on the innermost layer of tulle came loose (and put a little tear in that innermost layer of tulle). The bustle still stays in place even without that button.

Alterations

Dressmaker: Ballroom bustle, nude cups put in, length taken up, waist taken in.

I removed the hanger straps in order to wear it.
