The Dress

Beautiful and unique ivory raw silk vintage tea length wedding dress, worn for our wedding in 1990. Buttons down the back of the fitted bodice with antique lace around the waist, dropping to a v at the front and back, finished at the back with 3 subtle silk roses. Full skirt with fitted net underskirts. Sleeves are puffed to elbows then fitted to lower arm with buttons at cuff and antique lace trim on cuffs to match the waist detail. There are signs of wear and some slight yellowing of the silk at the back of the skirt and slightly at rib level on one side and the lace has yellowed in places as you would expect of material of this age. The dress will benefit from specialist cleaning which is reflected in the price. This dress is iconic and you won’t find anything else like it. Being a full skirt there is plenty of fabric and it’s ripe for adapting, altering or dying to suit a person with the imagination and suitable skills. The dress was made to my measurements and I generally wore a size 10 at the time…. Those were the days! If you live near Basingstoke you’d be welcome to inspect the dress and try it for size.
