The Dress

The Rebecca Ingram Josie is such a beautiful, classic style. I chose this dress because it is timeless and simple yet absolutely gorgeous! It is an ivory satin dress with an off-the-shoulder sweetheart neckline, trumpet style with a train and satin buttons down the whole length of the back. I truly felt like a movie star on my wedding day in this dress and received countless compliments on it :)

The dress is satin and lined. it does not have any stretch. This dress fit like a glove! I did get alterations to it which included adding bra cups, a bustle, taking in the bust and hips slightly and a hem. I also had the seamstress remove the scrunchie extra shoulder straps that came on the inside because they showed easily when moving around in the dress and this made it much more comfortable in my opinion. These were not meant to show - if you’ve seen the dress in a bridal shop you probably know what I’m referring to!

The dress was dry cleaned after my wedding and is in excellent condition! The only reason I listed it as good condition instead of excellent is the bustle loop. It has a bustle - you can see the hook in the video but the loop of thread that hooks to it did break during my reception so a new bustle loop will need to be added. This shouldn't be a problem though because the bustle is fitted to your height and would likely have needed an adjustment anyway.

The dress also has a wristlet so that you have the option of holding the train by the wristlet instead of the bustle. This came in handy when moving around between photos and after my bustle loop broke at the reception. The wristlet is a simple piece of satin ribbon that tucks inside the dress when you don't want it to show.

Alterations

Hemmed to my height with my wedding heels (5’5” total height)
Bra cups added
Bustle added
Bust taken in slightly - measures about 31.5” around
Hips taken in slightly - the dress measures about 17.5" across the front and 35” around.
The waist measures about 25” around.
Removed inside extra scruncie shoulder straps. (because they showed easily when moving around in the dress and this made it much more comfortable in my opinion. These were not meant to show - if you’ve seen the dress in a bridal shop you probably know what I’m referring to!)

I also want to mention that all alterations to this dress were done by a 4th generation master seamstress with decades of experience working specifically with wedding gowns. It is beautifully tailored and done the “right way.”

There is also some extra fabric in the seams that could likely allow for the waist and hips to be let out some if needed. It is about 2 inches of extra fabric on each side. I can provide a photo that shows this- if you’d like to see, please reach out. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have!
