The Dress

SUMMARY

The Andy Crepe dress by Made with Love is the perfect wedding dress if you are looking for something classic, sophisticated, flattering and simple. The dress has now been discontinued, so it may be your last opportunity to get your hands on it!

I purchased the made to order Andy Crepe dress from Brides by Design in August 2021. However, I made a lot of alterations to the dress to customize it. I purchased a split size 10 top and 14 bottom, but took the bottom half in a lot at the hips, so that the dress would skim over my hips and buttocks, as opposed to clinging tightly. This alteration gave the dress a more A-line fit.

When taking my measurements, the dress was ordered for 104cm hips, but we took it in quite a bit from the sides so that the end result was fit to skim over 94cm hips. The rest of my measurements remained the same. The dress would be reflective of a size 10/12 bottom (I am usually a size 10 in jeans).

I wore the Andy Crepe dress for my wedding in April 2022 and it was absolutely perfect - I got so many compliments on the day and it was such a comfortable dress. I want someone else to be able to enjoy it just as much on their day!

DETAILS

- crepe ivory fabric;
- floor length dress;
- square neckline;
- boning on bodice;
- A line bottom (whilst remaining form fitting);
- low scooped back;
- belt along the waist in the same crepe material;
- built in cups;
- buttons on the back for the aesthetic (whilst still doing up by zip);
- dress has a bustle, so that you can connect the train to the button on the back of the dress whilst dancing; and
- dress has a loop on the underside, to loop onto your wrist (i.e., to hold the dress during photos etc.).

I am 171cm tall and my shoes were 6cm tall.

I have gotten the dress professionally dry-cleaned and it is in near new condition. However:
1. There is some wear on the side of the dress where the stitching appears to have come slightly undone. I have attached a photo (photo 7). This is right under the underarm on the left side, so I do not think it is noticeable.
2. There is some very slight discolouring on the inside of the dress down the bottom (see photo 8). This is not noticeable, as it is on the inside of the dress.

Alterations

- I went two sizes up on the bottom half of the dress and got it taken in a lot to skim my hips in an A-Line style.
- I added buttons on the back, down to just below my buttocks.
- I added a hook to the back of the skirt to bustle the train.
- The cups were sown on the inside of the dress so that they were not visible.
- The cups were replaced with larger cups.
- The straps were shortened.
- The bottom was hemmed.
