The Dress

I bought this dress from Carine's Bridal Atelier (Georgetown, DC) in January of 2020. After multiple wedding postponements due to COVID, I ended up getting married in 2021 in a small ceremony and did not get to wear this dress then. This past April we had our wedding reception to celebrate our one year anniversary and I was finally able to wear the dress (but ended up being 34 weeks pregnant). The beauty is that the dress could easily be taken in or worn by another pregnant bride! The outer layer of the dress is tulle but underneath is a beaded layer that is absolutely gorgeous and totally unique. I wore a slip on crinoline under the dress because it was more flattering with my pregnant stomach, but if I had not been pregnant, I was planning to wear the dress without the crinoline for a more fitted, sleeker, sexier look. I wore 2 inch heels in these photos. The dress retailed for about $5,000.

Alterations

To accommodate my new size, we had the waste line lifted, additional tulle added to the sleeves, the deep V closed a little, and the stomach let out to accommodate my 34 week pregnant belly. For reference, when I bought this dress I was 5 foot 4 inches and 100 pounds. When I wore it I was 5 foot 4 inches and 140 pounds. Since we didn't have a formal ceremony this year I cut off the train, however the dress comes with clip on sleeves that also form a train that I did not wear. I have these sleeves and will send them with the dress. The last two photos show the sleeves at a fitting before I was pregnant and made the alterations.
