The Dress

This is a gorgeous custom Monique L'Huillier gown with hand-appliquéd floral lace and strapless drop-waist bodice. It has tulle underneath, horsehair for structure, and boning in the bodice.

Monique Lhuillier's designs capture the essence of sophisticated luxury by provoking femininity, allure, and glamour that have made her renowned in the world of design.

The dress style is the Maeve gown with Alexandra drop waist bodice in Silk White. The lining on the runway was shown in a light pink but I changed it to Silk White. I bought this dress at the Monique L'Huillier flagship showroom in NYC in December 2019.

I absolutely fell in love with the gown when I tried it on and I hope you will love it just as much as I did!

Condition
The gown was kept in the design studio once it was ready as we had to delay our wedding and deliver it to the showroom in August 2021. After our wedding in October 2021, the dress was dry cleaned and preserved in Washington, DC. The jacket was tried on but not worn.

Alterations
Alterations were completed at the Monique L'Huillier showroom in NYC. The dress was hemmed to skim the floor for someone who is 5'3" with 3.5" heels so ~5'6"-5'7". The bustle was done in a Ballroom bustle style (where everything is folded under). I ordered the dress with the cup opened to a C and the neckline raised 2".

The jacket had the lace on the sleeves removed and the sleeves were slightly shortened.

Dress measurements:
- 34” around the bust
- 27” waist
- 31” drop waist (just under the belly button)
- 9” from drop waist to middle of sweetheart
- 6.5” vertical from the bottom of cups in the middle to the drop waist
- 1.75” sweetheart difference from middle to top
[removed]” floor to middle sweetheart (pulled taut)

My measurements:
(dress ended up being *slightly* too big for me because of stress)
- 5'3" tall, heels were 3.5"
- 33.5” bust
- 26.5” waist
- 30.25” drop waist (just under the belly button)
- 50” to collarbone
- 15” from drop waist to collarbone
- 35” from floor to drop waist
- 22" from wrist to top of shoulder
- 54" wingspan from wrist to wrist
