The Dress

French Chantilly ivory silk dupion gown with lace overlay. On the shoulder lace illusion neckline with delicate cap sleeves. Fitted bodice with satin sash. A line skirt going into mid length train. I bought the dress in 2019 ready for my planned wedding in April 2020. After changing our wedding date 5 times (for obvious reasons!), we finally got married in July 2021.

I felt amazing in my dress and it was very comfortable to wear as it’s quite lightweight. The colour is flattering on any skin tone.

The dress hasn’t been cleaned but there are no stains on it. It’s slightly grubby on the hemline and shoulder. Hardly noticeable but will need a professional clean. There’s also a very tiny (2cm) tear in the lace overlay near the hemline. Again, you would only notice it if it was pointed out to you.

Alterations

The dress had to be taken out slightly (put on a few lockdown pounds!). The original wide sash was narrowed as I felt this was more flattering. I also added the blingy belt from Ivory & Co. The hemline has been taken up. I’m quite tall - 5’ 9” so hemline can be taken up for anyone shorter. The bodice was made into sweetheart neckline as this was more flattering than straight across.
