The Dress

I absolutely LOVE this dress!!! When we started shopping I knew I wanted something simple yet elegant but also something unique that would make it a one of a kind and this was that perfect combination! The dress makes you feel like a trendy princess with the sheer cut outs but yet it's tasteful.

So, yes, I love the dress but I am sadly deciding to sell it and here is why.

Unfortunately, I bought this dress pre-covid and was originally planning for a winter wonderland in Dec of 2020. By the time we had rescheduled to a 2021 date the dress no longer fit in a way that made me feel beautiful (yes, covid weight is a thing ha). I 100% am someone who over thinks everything and is a little more insecure in my own skin than I'd like to admit so I personally just didn't like the way it showed my back anymore. Other than that the dress is perfect!

I also didn't mean to find a new dress. A month before the wedding, my mom and I were out shopping for jewelry for this exact dress and I unexpectedly found a new dress that just made me feel more comfortable in my own skin- simple as that. For jewelry, I was planning to wear simple earrings and a statement necklace which looked amazing if you need ideas. I could have defiantly made this dress work and it was not an easy decision to give this up but I ended up purchasing a new dress only a month before our new wedding date(eek!) and am now ready to sell this to someone who will love it.

In the pictures you can see the sample I tried on in the store, pictures of the dress on the hanger (front and back) and then two recent pictures with me in the dress after I picked it up from the alteration company so you can see the very, minimal changes that were already made- apologies, those 2 pictures have terrible lighting and don't do the dress justice. We can blame my mom for her lovely iPhone photography skills haha (not great).

Here is a great description pulled from the designer website about the dress:
"A-line silk Mikado ball gown featuring luxurious straps that plunge into a deep V-neck while bands of silk and nude tulle highlight the natural waistline. An open back with an elegant row of silk clad buttons extend the length of the train."

I note that it is "other" in color because I want to be clear that this is "off-white" and that was not an option in the dropdown. I also want to be clear that this is a Mikado silk. Mikado fabrics are a luxurious type of silk that have a heavier weight, therefore a great choice if you want to give structure to a dress, however it keeps you feeling cool and fresh. As silk, Mikado fabrics have a slight shine that makes any garment stand out as it subtly sparkles and glows as the light hits it.

IMPORTANT NOTE: this dress runs small and it does not give/stretch like other dresses may. It can be brought in but it cannot be let out. I just ordered my other wedding dress in a size 14 and I was a size 12 in the bust but we did a 14 for my hips. I would recommend this for someone who is on the smaller size of a 14 or less. For a smaller model other than myself, you can find this dress on the designer website to take a look as well. Also, so you can compare the dress to yourself I am approx. 5'5'' & about 170 pounds, wear a size large in tops and usually a 34 in pants.

Alterations

The good news is we were able to call the alteration company and ask them to stop making alterations before anything major or hemming or personal sizing was done. By the time we called, there were only two minor alterations that were done. One, was they had already added the bustle which is amazing (see pic)!!! The alteration company said it can easily be changed if you do not like the way it exists today. And two, they had taken out a layer of tulle as I did not want it as "fluffy" BUT we did save it and it is available with the dress to easily have put back in if you wanted to. Even with that layer out the dress is still plenty fluffy (see pics). It also made the dress lighter and more comfortable around the waste which was nice.
