The Dress

This was my dream dress. A combination of a simple satin/silk sheath dress with a puddle train that elevated it to a timeless piece. In classic Sarah Seven style, it has clean lines, a simple design, a luxurious fabric, and is a mix of modern, classic, and feminine. The fabric is so sleek and soft, but still moved with me and I was so comfortable in it all night.

I bought this from the Sarah Seven store in Los Angeles last June and had it tailored there as well as a final tailoring from a local atelier. It has two thin B-cup pads sewn into the chest so you can wear it braless. It was never hemmed and instead just fitted and hit the floor on me. I'm 6ft and wore flats, so this is a great choice if you're also tall, or it could easily be tailored again. It was made custom for me, so it doesn't have a true designer label size, but would probably be either a 4 or 6. I had it dry cleaned at our best local cleaners and they did a fantastic job and there are no stains, dirt marks, or any discoloration. It is shaped and wrapped safely and ready for another party!

I included photos of the dress both with the train down and after it was bustled. It's a very simple two tie bustle that quickly transforms it. Because I don't want to take the dress out of its dry cleaning wrapping, I just included one photo of it now, but if you need more I'm happy to send some.

Alterations

I had an issue during alterations when the dress was lifted too high on me, and unfortunately when it was fitted properly the original straps had then been cut too short and needed to be reconstructed. They were originally a bit thinner than what is on the dress now. Honestly, I really like the new straps - they are a bit more sturdy and very comfortable. If you didn't know, you'd never guess they weren't original. I included a close-up of the back of the dress so you can see them clearly.
