The Dress
This gorgeous Eddy K EK1218 gown was purchased at Shaeffer’s Bridal in West Des Moines, Iowa in March of 2019 for my wedding in November 2019. The gown for purchased brand new for $1,434.18.
This gown has detachable off-the-shoulder straps, which allows it to convert to a strapless gown. The dress is ivory with a blush/champagne silk fabric underneath, as captured in the fourth image. It has a small train, as well. The back is a zip-up but has buttons for added detail.
The gown was also professionally dry cleaned by Victoria Cleaners, which I paid $170 for. It does have a very, very small tear in the lace overlay on the back of the gown, which must have occurred at some point on the wedding day and should be simple to repair.
All-in-all, I have about $2,000 invested in this dress.
Alterations
I had minor alterations done when purchased:
-I am 5 feet 7 inches. Had about two inches taken off the bottom so it didn’t drag in the front. I wore two-inch block heels during alterations and on the actual wedding day.
-They also added cups during alterations, for support/so I wouldn’t have to wear a bra at all, which can easily be removed for those that may have a bustier chest. My cup size is a B, for reference.
-During alterations, I also had them add a bustle.
No other alterations were made to the actual sizing of the dress other than the length.
In total, I paid $375 for these alterations.
