The Dress
I wore this dress to my wedding in April 2019. It’s a beautiful dress, it’s in the current Karen Willis Holmes season/range (so you could try on in a store or stockist near you) and it’s in immaculate condition. The long sleeves mean it is perfect for an autumn, winter or spring wedding.
The dress can also be viewed on the KWH website via https://karenwillisholmes.com/product/valencia/
It’s an AU size 10 and the Valencia style comes with a couple of options – so note that this is the model WITH the long sleeves (these are sewn on but can be removed) and with NO ruching around the back of the hips. Please note the ruching option can be seen in the last photo of the back angle of the model.
It’s very comfortable to wear and very easy to move in! The fabric is slightly stretch overall, which is great and means the dress would easily fit someone between a size 8 and a size 12 (I'm normally a size 8 or 10).
I am 172cm tall and wore 5cm heels.
There is a bustle via a small clear button added so you can dance easily, and a little belt which goes around the waist and fastens with a small gold clasp at the back. (The belt is shown in the first photo, but I didn't wear it at my wedding.)
The dress is in perfect condition – there are no signs that it has been worn. This includes the lace of the train which is as new.
The dress has been dry cleaned by a company specialising in wedding gowns and comes in the original KWH white gown bag with hanger.
Happy to ship to anywhere in Australia or internationally.
Alterations
Alterations
I had five alterations made to the dress by the KWH seamstress in the Brisbane boutique:
1) hemming done;
2) bra cups sewn in (these are not visible, entirely under the lining);
3) sleeves modified to be fitted to the wrist (which I felt made the dress a little more timeless, rather than the slightly puffed sleeves you can see in the first two photos); and
4) Shoulders taken up by 1cm each side to reduce the length of the bodice slightly. I would say I am average or even slightly longer than average in the torso for my height but still found the KWH bodices in most of their styles on the long side for me.
