The Dress

For sale, the dreamy Rue De Seine Nahla gown. Dress is labeled a size UK 16, but was altered down to fit its previous owner. She stated that it fit like a US 12. I wear a size 10 in Reformation, size M or L in Christy Dawn, and size 31 in Imogene + Willie and found that this dress was a bit roomy, particularly in the waist.

I purchased this dress used and did not do my due diligence in inspecting its condition prior to purchase. Therefore, I want to be extremely transparent in the fact that this dress has a number of flaws. The previous owner stated that this dress was purchased at A&Bé Bridal, but it did not come in a dress bag. I will be purchasing a dress bag for shipping and storage. It did come with a cute “bride” engraved wood hanger which will come with the dress. It is currently hung up and airing out as it smells quite strongly (to me) of perfume or air freshener.

Flaws:

- most egregiously, there are two poorly-patches holes in the back skirt of the dress. This appears to be where they had loops for the bustle. I suspect they did not originally reinforce the fabric (which is quite delicate) so it came right through. I suspect a better seamstress could re-repair these holes to make them less obvious. As it is, I did have to hunt for them, but they are a major flaw to me.
- an unpatched hole in the front gather near the slit. This one I really did have to hunt for, but would be worth patching probably for long term stability.
- a few pulls/loose threads - one by the top of the zipper
- the bottom of the bottom lace appears to be a bit frayed. Additionally, it was reapplied rather poorly after alterations as you can see the bottom of the silk here. This is true of the majority of the dress.

Overall, the flaws are many, but the dress is still quite wearable. It was dry cleaned by its previous owner and I have not worn it. I think it would possibly be worth getting the dress dry cleaned again prior to wearing due to the heavy perfume or air freshener smell, but that’s just my personal bias.

Price is negotiable - please feel free to make an offer. This dress did not meet my needs (since it was too short) so I’d love to pass it on to someone who can actually use it!

Alterations

This information is from the previous owner since I bought it used: dress was altered to fit someone with the following measurements:
Height: 5’4
Bust: 41.5 inches
Waist: 37.5 inches
Hips: 45 inches

I am [removed], and found that this dress is 1-1/2” too short with bare feet, is approximately 0.5” too large in the bust, approximately 1” too large in the waist, and fit fine in the hips.

Dress measured flat across and doubled is 39-35-44”. Bust measurements does not include room in the cups (they’re boned). I truly do not believe a 35” waist would be comfortable - more like a max of 33.5”.

Due to the construction of the dress, I do believe this could be altered down a bit still.
