The Dress

Confession: I found this dress before my husband had even proposed. I was looking with another friend who was engaged and saw this dress and knew it was the one. I went by myself to try it on and didn't even need to try on any others!!

I loved the high neck /w the sheer lace because it felt classy AND sexy, without me feeling self conscious about revealing too much. I also know that the halter neckline looked good on me, since my shoulders to neck area can look a little slumped in a wider neckline.

The dress is meant to fit tight (at least that is what the boutique lady said) so it does have some boning in the bodice, and I love that the ballgown flared ABOVE my stomach! It meant I ate cake and my amazing catered meal and didn't feel like I needed to be sucked in all the time during photos. It was nice to feel relaxed in the dress.

I am 32/34B and the bodice was a little big for my chest, but the dress itself gave me awesome curves! I didn't have it altered to fit that, since they said it wouldn't matter. I didn't wear a bra with the dress, but never felt like I was just swinging free. It wasn't a tight fit, but the dress made me look like I had more!

Side note: I ironed the top layer overlay lace "Horse Hair" hem (not sure what to call it) myself by using a towel and steaming it with pressure. WORKED GREAT! Saved me a lot of money from taking it to a boutique to do. The lady at mine said that the petticoat layer can also be ironed/steamed for a more full, poofy ballgown effect, but I liked the poof as it was. Read up on this technique on dance forums. Those ladies have a lot of tips for taking care of this kind of material.
