Vintage WEDDING GOWN
True couture: Bergdorf Goodman 1971, but unfortunately this is not among the site's recognized designers. Gown is heavy ivory silk with beading and lace embellishment and finished by hand with lace facing on all seams.
The princess line silhouette in an Empire style features a high neck ruffled collar with hand appliqued bead work that continues as a panel down the center front;
Gown has long fitted sleeves with pleated ruffle cuffs. Hemline carries a 4" gathered flounce with a short train.
The silk, called peau de soie (literally, skin of silk) is rarely seen today.
Original cost: $11,880 Asking: $3500.
Because this is genuine couture, it isn’t possible to give a size in the ordinary sense, but 2, 4, and 6 sized women would fit. .
Bust: 34
Waist: 29 (high, Empire style)
Sleeve: 23
Front: 52
Back: 60
There is a matching maid of honor gown--also couture--in green velvet, size 2/4, which I am willing to include for free with the gown.
