The Dress

I am sure every bride has the perfect dress in mind. Some of my friends who got married recently, said they don't know what they want but they do know what they don't want! Others walk in, see a dress, love it and that's that. I feel that it's important to wear a dress that is YOU and that makes you feel incredibly beautiful. And in my (one time experience), the biggest thing I was grateful for, was that the dress fitted like a glove and was comfortable all night through. All eyes are on you, and I can't tell you how good it felt not to worry about a stitch or a panty line or sweat or anything like that! This dress did it all for me. I think Elbeth Gillis might be a fairy godmother or something.

This dress was my dream dress, and I didn't even know it until that last fitting when I danced around her fitting room. I was fussy and didn't know what I wanted at all! I did know, I wanted something that was classic yet different. Something that felt just so absolutely fun to wear, that was light and comfortable, luxurious and beautiful!

My favorite part about the dress was the pockets and the low cut of the back. The skirt is made from beautiful ivory silk. My mom and Elbeth Gillis recommended the silk - since it is a natural fabric, it is so light to wear and lets you breathe. I was so grateful for that, especially after all the dancing and walking around all day - I never once felt uncomfortable or too hot.

The scoop neck bodice is made from white mesh, with a built-in invisible bra. The lace detail has a lovely dimension about it, and compliments the silk beautifully! Sometimes I find lace to be a bit flat or dull, but this lace had a lot of "depth" to it's color. It is so stunning!

The dress may only be dry-cleaned two to three times due to the risk of damaging the silk. I have dry cleaned it once. It came out beautifully, expected for a dull yellow mark near the pocket that, in the dry cleaner's opinion, will come out with another dry clean. I didn't want to have it dry cleaned again in case you would like to do it yourself before you wear it. That way we don't risk damaging the silk. You could also easily get hold of more lace to cover it if you prefer.

This dress was with me for the happiest day of my life. I hope it will be to you what it was to me.

Love, Anne
