The Dress

This simple yet elegant Maggie Sottero dress, the gorgeous 'Clarice' (also called Saint Valentino), was an absolute delight to wear on my wedding day. The lace up back corset gives a very flattering finish. There is a soft and flowing train that hooks up into a light bustle for ease of walking and dancing. This is an incredible dress that is very comfortable, not restrictive in either the bodice or skirt. The ruched bodice elongates your torso, is gorgeous in pictures and hugs your body in all the right places!

Made of gossamer chiffon with ruched bodice, intersecting into a knotted detail at the side hip and center back. The slim A-line skirt is softly gathered providing incredible floating movement.

The design has structured elegance while still being light and comfortable to wear. I was a size 14-16 and the internal boning held everything in beautifully, with no need for complicated underwear. I received an unbelievable amount of compliments about how flattering it was.

The gown was purchased from Raffaele Ciuca in Melbourne. The dress has been professionally dry cleaned by Australia’s leading bridal and evening wear dry cleaner – Syndal’s Bridal Dry Cleaners. The dress is in a preservation bag made from acid free fabric, deterring discolouration, and is also lined with acid free paper. It has been hung in the gown bag it came in since it was cleaned and is ready to be worn.

Alterations

The centre back lace up was altered to take on a more traditional v-shaped opening which flatters the waistline seen from the back. Pair of bra cups added, sitting against the skin to avoid any shadowing through the fabric. Shoulder “ wraps” added with matching lining and pleated chiffon overlays (these can be removed to make it a strapless dress).
