The Dress

I had a very hard time finding a dress in sample sizes that I could even zip up (because of my large bust at the time). Finally found this one at Saks and understood what it was like to feel like a princess! This dress fit me beautifully. The fitted and ornately embroidered and rhinestone embellished bodice was very slimming. The box pleating around the torso was stunning, and the fullness of the skirt made quite a bold statement. Dress is more of a creamy ivory than a stark white, which I love. The gown is mostly satin with lovely flower and leaf embroidery on the bodice accompanied by rhinestone details. I could not stop smiling on my wedding day!

Alterations

My dress was ordered in a 12, but I was probably closer to a street size 10 at the time. Alterations were made to fit me in the waist while accommodating my 38E bust size. Some alterations were made to the hemline. I am 5'9" but wore flat shoes for the wedding. I was afraid of tripping in heels (kind of a tomboy), and my husband was only an inch taller than me. I did not want to tower over him on our wedding day. There is fabric enough to either lengthen or shorten the hemline.

I paid to have the dress dry cleaned and preserved. Dress has been in its preservation box since after my wedding, and I only removed it recently to take measurements and photographs in order to post it on this website. Dress obviously needs to be de-wrinkled but is in otherwise very good condition.
