The Dress

100% silk, couture, hand-embroidered with silk ribbon detailing embroidered all over the dress. Ivory fabric with ivory/cream embroidery. A signature Oscar gown, it is truly beautiful and a work of art. Everyone who has seen it (even on the hanger) has gasped. The detail is exceptional. Has not been worn to a wedding.

Label size 8, it is a UK size 10-12. It has a standard Oscar boned corset and bra cups inside which removes the need for a bra. Long chapel length train (with embroidery continuing on this fabric). The dress has an elegant and flattering fitted bodice down to the hip and then comes out into the gown's skirt (unlike most ball gowns where the skirt starts from the waist). 2 pockets in the skirt. Box pleats at the back waist area trail down into the train. No pleats at the front or sides of the dress to create a more figure flattering silhouette. Neckline at the front of the dress is straight across (not sweetheart). The embroidery at the neckline is in a sweetheart shape so that the neckline can be altered to this shape if desired.

The dress is 2-3 sizes too big for me and has been held in place with clips for the photographs - I am also standing on a small stool so the full length of the fabric can be seen clearly (hence the gap between the skirt and the floor). I am 5ft8/ 173cm without heels. When I wear 3-4 inch heels this dress would still require shortening by around 1/2- 1 inch so should be suitable for anyone who is 6ft including shoes. I can send measurements of the length of the dress if needed.

Needs professional dry cleaning, bottom of the hem is a bit dirty (as it was bought as a sample). Has one small tear to the inner lining corset (separate to the dress itself) which is not visible from the outside and does not affect the fit or effectiveness of the corset. There is an inner and outer zip at the back of the dress- the outer zip is coming away from the fabric slightly (around 1cm of the zip requires sewing back into the fabric). Happy to send additional photos of these small areas.

Reason for selling - I bought it in a sample sale and it's around 2-3 sizes too big for me, the alterations it would require to fit me would ruin some of the beautiful work on the sides of the dress. I would LOVE to wear it but don't think it's worth butchering a beautiful Oscar gown that could fit someone else perfectly! (especially as I was planning to sell it afterwards anyway). Hopefully it will make someone else's wedding dress dreams come true!
