The Dress

This is a completely unique dress. The bodice is from a Catherine Deane dress. The original grey satin skirt was replaced with a new full-circle ivory skirt and a new ivory waistband to match the ivory shade of the embroidered flowers on the bodice.

THE BODICE has a grey satin base with a beautiful pattern of flowers in ivory embroidery overlaid on top. The grey satin behind the embroidery, really makes the ivory pop.

THE SKIRT is a full-circle skirt, which I wore without an underskirt, but an underskirt could be worn for an A-line shape. I really wanted to have lots of drama in the skirt without needing a train, and there is plenty of fabric for that. From the waistband, it lies completely flat against the body with no darts. It moved really well, and looked particularly great during the dancing. The fabric is very shiny and reflects a lot of light. I really liked the idea of gleaming on the day, but if you prefer more matt fabrics, this probably isn't the dress for you. It's a warm ivory colour.

THE FIT is most critical around the waistband, so that's the key dimension to check. I'm 5 foot 3" but I wore relatively high 3.5 inch shoes and left the dress a little long so it brushed the ground. It was a really comfortable dress to wear during the day. I've had it drycleaned and it looks good as new.
