The Dress

A stunning Stella McCartney sample made for a VIP event in 2013. Actress Mar Saura wore it to the Goya awards with a belt, which is available with the dress, I wore it without. It was never made commercially in this length and colour, so this is a unique piece.

Top fabric is 100% silk with organic cotton lace embroidery used all over the gown. The skirt has a lining made out of 100% silk so has two layers. The dress is cleverly designed to accentuate your waist with a peplum skirt and cutouts going from under your arms towards your waist at the front. It has a skin coloured mesh on those areas so you are not naked and it means the dress fits like a glove. I had bra cups sewn in and didn't need to wear anything else like a tape. I wear bra size C cup. The dress has a invisible zip at the back and has a snug fit.

Because it was not made commercially it didn't have a retail price but it is estimated it would have been about £3,000 new. The dress has been dry cleaned and has no stains or marks.

Alterations

The dress had been made in IT size 40 but it is likely it was tailored to the actress's body. She is taller than me (I am 166cm) so I had it tailored further by shortening the top body (by about 2cm) and shortening the front hem by about 10cm. I left the back hem a little longer. I also had the zip replaced with a longer one so it is easier to get into the dress. I also had 1cm let out all along the zip to make the dress a little more comfortable to wear in hot weather.
